Admissions Procedure

At Clarity Independent School, we admit pupils who already have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) in place and have been referred by the Local Authority. We consult with a range of Local Authorities, in addition to Essex. Due to our school being a popular provision, we ask that anyone who is looking to consider Clarity Independent School, follow this procedure to ensure that we can assess each case fairly.

We first ask that you speak to your SEND contact at the Local Authority to determine whether they will consider changing your current placement to a SEN Specialist provision such as Clarity. The next step is for them to send us your child's SEN paperwork and EHCP. We encourage you (parents) to make an appointment to visit the school but it is important to note at this stage,  we can only accept referrals from the Local Authority and are not able to accept referrals from parents / pupils. A visit to the school will allow you to see the whole school and meet the Head Teacher and other members of the school, and for us to meet you and your child.

If you feel Clarity is the right school for you, the next step is to inform your contact at the Local Authority and for them to inform us, so that our admissions panel can begin to consider your profile  and determine whether we can offer you a place in consultation with the Local Authority responsible and in the location of your home address. It is a good idea to keep in regular communication with your current school and the Statutory Assessment Service regarding your decision throughout the placement process, so that they can support you and keep you informed throughout the process. The process can take a few months, so it is best to ensure you continue to support your child to attend your current school whilst completing this process.
